# Bangkok Advanced Seller Dinner Recap: AI Agents, Human Teams and Remembering to Rest

I had a great time in Bangkok on Tuesday evening, 13 October 2026, at our Advanced Ecommerce Seller Dinner at D'ARK in EmQuartier, Phrom Phong. Lately I've really been enjoying these smaller, more private and vetted dinners. The focus is on quality conversations and real networking, not a big crowd. We had a good mix of returning community members and new faces, and that's the balance I like.

## Trade show season is here

It's trade show season, so a few people at the table are getting ready to head up to China for the Canton Fair over the coming weeks. I'm one of them. And of course a good group of them are also coming up to Cross Border Summit in Chiang Mai after the shows. So it felt a bit like a warm-up before a busy stretch for all of us.

## AI and AI agents were everywhere

A lot of the conversation, honestly most of it, was about AI and AI agents. Many of the sellers have spent this year building custom software for their own ecommerce businesses. Around the table I was seeing phone screenshots and open laptops showing tools that pull in data from Amazon, Shopify and other platforms. It's amazing to see sellers building their own tools instead of waiting for someone else to make them.

## Balancing the human team and the AI agents

Another big topic was how to balance the human team running the brands with the AI agents. What came up was that around 20% of people's teams are fully embracing AI and AI agents to supercharge their work. The rest are either not adopting it, not using it enough, or seem reluctant to take on the new tech.

That was frustrating for many at the table, and I get it. This is game-changing technology, and we all need to embrace it.

## Amazon, competition and margins

I still heard some people say Amazon is annoying with compliance and documentation. My view, and others agreed, is that once you're in and things are stable, it's a cash-generating business.

Some also see competitors catching up and more pressure on margins. That's the reality of a maturing market, and it's exactly why conversations like these are worth having.

## Don't forget to rest

All of us are overloaded right now, learning new AI tools and trying to code our own software. A few people reminded the group that we need to step back sometimes. The tech will still be there, and we need our rest and our health. I needed to hear that one too.

## Thank you

I really enjoyed this dinner. A big thanks to Will Rodgers and Hersh Patel for helping organize it. Many people told me how much they enjoyed the high quality of the attendees and how open and warm everyone was. That's exactly the kind of room we try to create.

## See you in Chiang Mai, or at the next dinner

If you're an ecommerce seller and this sounds like your kind of conversation, come join us at [Cross Border Summit 2026 in Chiang Mai](https://2026.crossbordersummit.com). And keep an eye out for our next vetted seller dinners. I'd love to have you at the table.
